Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 3, 2026
PillVault ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information our mobile application PillVault (the "App") collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Data You Provide
When you use PillVault, you may enter the following types of data into the App:
- Medication names, dosages, and notes
- Reminder schedules (times, frequencies, days of the week)
- Pill inventory quantities and reorder thresholds
- App preferences and settings (theme, notification sounds, time format)
All of this data is stored locally on your device only. We do not transmit, upload, or sync any of your medication data to any external server, cloud service, or third-party platform.
1.2 Data We Do NOT Collect
PillVault does not collect, store, or process:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, address)
- Location data or GPS coordinates
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- Browsing history or usage analytics
- Health records or medical history beyond what you voluntarily enter
- Photos, contacts, or files from your device
2. How Your Data Is Stored
All data you enter into PillVault is stored using your device's local storage (AsyncStorage). This means:
- Your data resides solely on your physical device
- No internet connection is required to use the App
- Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all stored data
- We have no ability to access, view, or recover your data
3. Data Export
PillVault provides a Data Export feature in Settings that allows you to export your medication data (pills, reminders, history, and settings) as a JSON file. This export is initiated entirely by you, and the exported file remains on your device or wherever you choose to save it. We do not receive a copy of exported data.
4. Notifications & Permissions
PillVault may request the following device permissions:
- Notifications: To deliver pill reminders and low-stock alerts at your scheduled times. You can disable notifications at any time through the App's Settings or your device's system settings.
- Exact Alarm (Android): To ensure reminders are delivered precisely at the scheduled time, even when the device is in power-saving mode.
- Vibration: To provide haptic feedback with notifications, configurable in Settings.
These permissions are used solely for the stated medication reminder functionality. No data is collected through these permissions.
5. Third-Party Services
PillVault does not integrate with, send data to, or receive data from any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The App does not contain any:
- Advertising SDKs or ad networks
- Analytics or crash reporting tools that transmit data externally
- Social media integrations or login providers
- Third-party data brokers or data sharing agreements
6. Children's Privacy
PillVault is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since all data is stored locally and we collect no information, there is no mechanism by which children's data could be transmitted to us.
7. Security
Your data security is protected by your device's built-in security features (screen lock, encryption, biometric authentication). Since PillVault stores data exclusively on your device and does not transmit data over the internet, risks associated with data breaches on remote servers do not apply.
We recommend:
- Keeping your device's operating system up to date
- Using a screen lock (PIN, pattern, fingerprint, or face unlock)
- Not sharing your device with untrusted individuals if you store sensitive medication information
8. Data Retention & Deletion
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
- Reset Data: You can delete all App data at any time by using the "Reset to Defaults" option in Settings.
- Clear History: You can clear your medication history independently through Settings.
- Uninstall: Uninstalling PillVault permanently removes all associated data from your device.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your data.
